Design Manager (Offshore Wind)

Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversee the entire foundation design process, including managing interfaces, coordinating, and guiding Discipline Leads (Primary Steel, Secondary Steel, Geotechnics, Metocean, Corrosion Protection, Electrical, etc.) to ensure the right methodologies and technical solutions.
  • Ensure each design team has a clear understanding of the scope, deliverables, interfaces, and dependencies at each project stage.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the contracted scope of work and deliverables for each project stage and discipline.
  • Monitor the progress of the design process.
  • Ensure that the design supports the client's key objectives and meets all project specifications.
  • Central Role in Design Process: Take a central role in the design process, interfacing with various external stakeholders, including wind turbine vendors, fabricators, installation contractors, and certification and verification agencies.
  • End-Stage Review Accountability: Responsible for the end-stage review of team performance and design stage deliverables with the client, conducting internal peer reviews when necessary, and ensuring adherence to internal procedures.
  • Promote and maintain the highest standards of health and safety within the scope of the project and among the project team.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Educational Background: Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on offshore steel structures or similar areas. Alternative educational backgrounds may be considered with relevant work experience.
  • Professional Experience: Extensive experience as a design or engineering manager/lead engineer within offshore wind projects.
  • Structural Engineering Expertise: Proven ability to apply structural engineering principles, design standards, and knowledge of the fabrication/construction process to create efficient and cost-effective designs.
  • Multidisciplinary Coordination: Skilled in coordinating designs with other disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Drive and Engagement: Strong motivation to excel in the area of responsibility, demonstrated through high-quality design work, deliverables, and collaborative engagement.
  • Proactive Leadership: Enthusiastic about coordinating and motivating teams in a dynamic environment, with a proactive approach.
  • Task Management: Ability to effectively plan and prioritize multiple engineering tasks, making independent decisions that align with and advance company goals.
  • Continuous Learning: Motivated to learn and grow within an international team of skilled structural engineers, always seeking opportunities to exceed expectations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities, coupled with a proactive and analytical approach to assignments.
